06:00 AM THAR ROXX Pickup from Salem Your rugged 4×4 Thar with a local, experienced driver (Rengha Travels) picks up the small group from your location in Salem.
06:00 AM – 10:30 AM Drive to Theni (4-5 hours) Enjoy the long highway drive. Stop for a quick breakfast en route (cost not included).
10:30 AM – 11:30 AM Quick Stop in Theni Brief stop for essentials, then head directly to the base of the ghat road.
11:30 AM – 01:00 PM Chinna Suruli Falls & Foothill Visit Chinna Suruli Falls and the foothill before starting the main climb.
01:00 PM – 02:00 PM Lunch Lunch at a reliable restaurant before leaving the plains (cost not included).
02:00 PM – 05:30 PM Ascend to Megamalai & Off-Road Section Drive up the winding ghat road. The Thar excels after the Highwavys Dam section, where the road quality deteriorates. Use the 4×4 capability (if necessary and safe) to navigate the rough sections.
Sightseeing Stops Visit Highwavys Dam and proceed to the Manalar Tea Estate and Venniyar Dam. The Thar can often reach closer to the remote Megamalai View Point and Iravangalar Dam than standard cars.
05:30 PM – 07:00 PM Check-in to Megamalai Homestay Check into your pre-booked homestay or guest house near the tea estates for an authentic mountain stay experience.
07:00 PM onwards Evening Experience Enjoy the misty mountain air, a bonfire (if permitted/arranged), and dinner at the homestay (cost may be included in the package).
Night Overnight Stay Stay overnight at the elevated Megamalai location.
📅 Day 2: Megamalai Morning & Return to Theni

08:00 AM – 09:00 AM Breakfast & Morning View Enjoy a mountain breakfast and an early morning walk through the plantations.
09:00 AM – 11:00 AM Maharaja Mettu Off-Road Adventure Highlight: Drive the Thar to Maharaja Mettu, one of the highest points. This often requires significant off-roading, a task perfectly suited to the Thar.
11:00 AM – 01:00 PM Descent to Theni Begin the drive down the ghats to Theni.
01:00 PM – 02:00 PM Lunch Have lunch in Theni (cost not included).
02:00 PM – 03:30 PM Theni Local Sightseeing Visit Suruli Falls (or the 1008 Sivalinga Temple) if time permits, taking advantage of the Thar’s quick mobility.
